David, Koohee, and Sabina win Schoenborn awards

Our group was very successful at the 2018 Schoenborn Graduate Research Symposium!

Of the 15 formal oral presentations, the faculty judges gave first place to David Chang for his talk titled “Investigation of surfactant-mediated shear protection of mammalian cells for increased biomanufacturing efficiency.” The second place award was also given to a Velev group member; the judges gave it to Koohee Han for his talk titled “A new class of microbots and microswimmers based on on assemblies of metallo-dielectric microcubes.”

Meanwhile, Sabina Islam won second place in the poster presentations, which was voted on by fellow graduate students. This is the second year in a row that Sabina has won an award for her Schoenborn poster.

Great job everyone!
