Siyao Wang and Camden Cutright Received NWI Awards

Graduate students Siyao Wang and Camden Cutright were award winners at the Fall meeting of the Nonwovens Institute (NWI) Industrial Advisory Board.

Siyao won the Technical Merit Award with her research project, “Intrinsically Microporous Nonwovens.” Co-advised by Dr. Parsons and Dr. Khan, Siyao works on processing and functionalizing a novel class of polymers characterized by intrinsic microporosity for applications in protective garments. She joined our department in 2016 after she completed her undergraduate degree in Polymer Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University in China.

Camdem earned the Best Presentation Award with his talk, “Stimuli-Responsive Hydrogels in Nonwoven Fabrics as Membranes for Programmable Transport/Blocking of Moisture and Small Molecules.”

The Nonwovens Institute (NWI) is the world’s first accredited academic program for the interdisciplinary field of engineered fabrics. Their vision statement declares the community “wants to be the global leader for research, education, and service for nonwovens and affiliated industries.”
