Professor Cooper Recognized for His Outstanding Teaching

Professor Matt Cooper has received the 2021 ASEE Southeastern Section Outstanding Mid-Career Teaching Award. The Award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to engineering or engineering technology education through outstanding classroom performance.

In 2019, Prof. Cooper was named an NC State Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor. The award recognized his long-term, distinguished service in undergraduate teaching. Awardees retain the title for as long as they remain a member of the NC State faculty. In 2014, Prof. Cooper was the recipient of an NC State Outstanding Teacher Award, which bestows membership in the NC State Academy of Outstanding Teachers.

Dr. Cooper earned his B.S. degree from West Virginia University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Ohio University, all in chemical engineering. After having worked in the private sector, he joined the department in 2011.
