Jerush Christopher and Pedro Henrique Wink Reis will be joining the group as new PhD students! Jerush was previously associated with the group as an Undergrad Researcher. His PhD work aims to form compostable packing from chitosan SDCs. The focus will be on finding a scalable way to make SDC films while providing a barrier for water and oxygen for food packaging. Pedro will be co-advised by Prof. Lilian Hsiao. His goal is to develop hydrogel-based tactile sensors that are flexible, transparent, biocompatible, inexpensive, and biodegradable. These can be applied towards making wearable electronic devices and soft robotics.
