Koohee is 2018 Outstanding PhD Graduate

Our former group member Dr. Koohee Han was selected for the 2018 James K. Ferrell Outstanding Ph.D. Graduate Award!

Dr. Hubert Winston, along with other former students and colleagues of Professor James K. Ferrell, established the Dr. James K. Ferrell Graduate Student Fund to honor the memory of  Dr. Ferrell (1923-2001).  Dr.  Ferrell was the first Ph.D. graduate from NC State’s chemical engineering program. He later became a faculty member and was  Department Head from 1966 through 1980.  Dr. Ferrell received the College of Engineering’s highest award in 1992, the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award (https://www.engr.ncsu.edu/about/history/dea/). 

The Dr. James K. Ferrell Graduate Student Fund supports the James K. Ferrell Outstanding Ph.D. Graduate Award that recognizes an outstanding Ph.D. graduate from our program who distinguishes him/herself in 

  • Scholarship: publications, research-based honors, presentations; and 
  • Service: teaching/TA performance, graduate student recruiting, GSA service, mentorship of peers and undergraduate researchers.
