Kenny Mineart Wins the 2016 Eastman Chemical Student Award in Applied Polymer Science

k-mineartDr. Kenneth Mineart (PhD ‘2016) was selected as the winner of the 2016 Eastman Chemical Student Award in Applied Polymer Science from the American Chemical Society (ACS). His selection for the Award was based upon the merit of a paper, “Extending the Versatility of Thermoelastic Elastomers: From Physical Blending to Chemical Functionalization,” he submitted and the quality of the associated talk he presented at the Fall 2016 National ACS meeting.

As a graduate student, Kenny was advised by Professor Richard Spontak, and he’s currently employed as a Postdoctorial Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Materials Measurement Laboratory. At NIST, his research interests focus around understanding and applying the self-assembly of macromolecules both in bulk and solution.

Kenny’s other recent awards include a Future Faculty Award from the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Chemical Engineering Division, the Deep Science Award at the NC State Milliken Research Symposium, and a Best Poster at the NC State Graduate Research Symposium, all in 2015.

Congratulations Dr. Mineart!
